Shiina Ringo is Back!

Ringo Shiina is back at top of the charts this week with "Sanmon Gossip," her first original solo album in six years. The album sold 120,000 copies to oust GReeeeN from the #1 spot. Shiina's last album, "Karuki Zamen Kuri no Hana," also achieved #1 when it released in 2003.

As for the other new albums, Kaela Kimura ranked #3, followed by Kana Nishino at #4, while Hanaregumi made #7.
Meanwhile, Yusuke Kamiji's second solo single, "Tanpopo / Kaizokusen / Sono Kobushi," moved more than 176,000 copies to lead the singles chart. AKB48 settled for second with 104,000 copies sold of "Namida Surprise!"
Korean group BIG BANG took third with their new song, one slot ahead of Teppei Koike's solo single. Several more fresh releases landed in the top ten: Gackt (#5), Kiyoharu (#6), Base Ball Bear (#7), Versailles (#8), and Aya Ueto (#10).

Shiina Ringo New album! Much Awaited new solo album from here! ^_^

Much-awaited new solo album "Superficial Gossip" release from Ringo Shiina! The album features "Marunouchi Sadistic (Expo Ver.)," "Karisome Otome Death Jazz Ver." and more for 14 songs total. All songs were written by Ringo Shiina herself. Comes out on June 24, 2009!

Hitomi Pregnant and Nude on New Album

One of the most Popular news in Japan is Hitomi’s new album “LOVE LIFE 2″ that is set to be released on June 24. As with the first LOVE LIFE album, hitomi is on the cover in the nude, but this time she’s not alone. In fact, there’s a little baby girl in her stomach! hitomi became a mother in December last year and decided to gather up her confidence and use this photo that I believe hasn’t been published anywhere else before this.

I think it’s a pretty cool idea, even though I’m not a big fan of the pregnancy look! I wonder if there will be more photos in the album booklet… with some clothes on perhaps.

Otsuka and The Rolling Stones

This isn’t a “real” collaboration, but I thought it was pretty neat. Ai-chan has put together a new T-shirt representing her and the Rolling Stones.

On the front, it has a “maru-bero,” which is basically the Rolling Stones logo with Otsuka’s typical circle around it. On the back, it says “The Rolling Stones,” but the O’s have been replace with the “maru-bero” and the I has been replaced with the “maru-ai” (which is supposed to be the kanji 愛 inside a circle, but at this resolution it’s hard to tell.


I’m digging Ai-chan’s outfit with the shirt and skirt here:


The shirt’s on sale this month, available online and at the shows on her upcoming tour. It apparently comes in different colors, and is being sold in both men’s and women’s sizes.
